WebMay 25, 2010 · We routinely turned 84-8600 RPM for 20to 40 laps at a time and made 735HP with our Yates motor. Never a fan problem, never a heat problem even on really heavy/hooked up tracks. Had to run mechanical, electric not legal. Not a bit worried about a good steel fan made for racing. Stay away from flex fans. WebDec 23, 2003 · If the fan you want to use doesn't fit in the shroud I would not use that fan. IMO flex fans are not good. They rob horsepower at high rpms if not used with a fan clutch and the noise is just hidious. I run a metal stock fan with the stock fan clutch, stock fan shroud, and a big aluminum radiator.

The clutch is designed to limit the fan rpm, so it can use a more aggressive fan assembly and keep it running closer to it's optimum speed.

Called Summit, they said send it back, and sent us one to replace it at the same time no questions asked. That's why we use Summit, Jegs, PAW or Northern Auto Parts. All have great customer service.
